TEA for the soul

This theme took me days to write. I had no clue on how to go about this theme. The theme was for the Thursday that has already seen its sunset. But here I am scribbling thoughts on it. I believe in the saying 'Better late than never'

Well hailing from God's own country, TEA is very much part and parcel of my life to this day. TEA began its charm in my life somewhere from the age of 14 or 15. The slow transition from milk to tea happens at this age isn't it and then you get hitched for life to this soul awakening drink.

Oh I am addicted to TEA, I need to have my hot cup of tea first thing in the morning. Damn, I cannot see myself sail through the morning chores without tea. And the same at around 3.30 - 4.00 PM in the evening. My husband on the other hand can survive mornings without tea, well TEA is for people who wake up early at the first place I guess ;)

It would be a shame to reveal that I haven't yet mastered the art of making the perfect tea. The taste varies every other day, I just cant seem to get perfect at this. Thank goodness for the availability of "BrookeBonds Nature Care" for I would have spent all my time desperate not able to crack it up. My most favourite tea would be the tea from the "chayakada's" at Kerala. Then comes the Green Tea bags and Ice Tea in that order.

Sadly, I don't own a tea set yet. Someday I hope to own one , until then sipping away in the multi \-coloured /multi-sized mugs.

DATE

This time around, there's nothing happy to share. Aug 15 is a day the whole nation celebrates happily. But for me and my sister (I doubt if she would even remember )the date has turned to one that we can never forget.

It was when I was in the V standard, my parents went out to meet a specialist leaving us under the care of a family friend. We hardly knew what was in store for us. My dad came back with ten stitches behind his ear lobes and my mom with a shattered confidence to get on to the Chetak.

On the way back, my parents met with an accident. I would not want to get into details here. Its just by sheer luck I have my parents alive and kicking today is all that I want to let you all know.

But did that make me a doting obedient daughter? No, never until this day. I have been a brat all my life and still am a brat to my husband and daughter.

RED is to Celebrate

Oh yes, we have seen this everywhere, the colour RED in synonym with celebrations, a movie premiere, a wedding celebrations, an anniversary and likes. Oh did I forget, our own director Karan Johar. His fascination to portray his leading ladies in RED in every possible shot can never be matched.

So why should we miss a chance to paint the city RED. That was our thoughts when we wanted to celebrate our one year completion at Infosys. I am sure everyone's read about how tough it is to stride through the training period. For the record, I had to appear for the final twice too.Sigh!

So here we are posing in front of the pool at Mangalore Infy in RED. We were a batch of 100 posted to Hyderabad in April 2005 for our ES trainings and a mere 20 of us landed in a silent peaceful beautiful city called Mangalore. Oh, that wasn't exactly our first opinions about the place ;)

Please please excuse my obsession with memories from work days. I just feel so happy to share them here on my blog posts.

Shadows on the beach

Its the fourth day of the event on theme blogs. Happy that I am sailing safe. The theme Shadows made me look around for snaps from my work day to the post baby days. None of the snaps that came to my mind fit the theme. And alas I found one that was lying on Flickr.

This was taken during the sports events at MInfy (Mangalore Infy). We were Green Team I think and we had the castle making contest and I remember we won this event among the four houses.

On a dull day, these pictures from my old workplace brings back smiles and I am back on my feet at times or I go into a black hole (ok not in reality).

Shadows keep appearing as a main character in most of our bed time story's. And I am amazed at how kids are never tired of made up story's.

The Missing Link

Now this was yesterday's theme and I could not write a word on it. Not that I have a clear idea now either but then I shot this picture for the theme. I know what I want to write about but putting it together is a tough job for me I admit.

All that I could think of after I saw the theme was to give it a shady touch. And so I interpret this as 'The Missing Link'.

What is it that is missing? What is it one is linking it to? Ever been in that situation? Oh I am sure, all of us have been there and let our minds wondered on what could be that? Is it Love, space, respect, dignity, what ever it could be, we just hope the link never goes missing for a long time. Don't we.

Flying in solitude

So we have a week with themes back on Marathon Bloggers and I hope to survive the tide this time around. Interesting part, we need a picture to go along with the theme and post.

It starts off with the theme FLY.

Well the mind was blank on what to write but I knew the picture which I had to tag along.

The picture was captured by my husband, when we were on a tour at Hampi and post processed by yours truly.

It was interesting to see this stork (I think) flying in solitude. Never really noticed these birds flying aloof earlier. And what surprised me was , in a dry place like Hampi one actually finds different species of birds and there was quite a lot a bird photographer can actually do here.

And the search for this picture made me look into all the old photographs stashed away safely in the external hard disks and it was indeed a pleasant experience for me to see my active 4 year old sit through with me without moving an inch and relishing the past through the visuals.

Well just had a look at the next theme and my mind is blank. No surprises there I believe.

Chance

I did not stay afloat for the Marathon Bloggers challenge. I did it only for 19 days instead of 31 days of Dec 2013. Well, I at least gave it a try and made good friends along the journey.

Word prompts with respect to blogging have always worked well for me. This time around the prompt - Chance

A chance is what we all want, isn't it? Here is what I would like to do with Chance

A chance to visit the Himalayas
A chance to be the reason behind a smile
A chance to serve the differently abled
A chance to let know the people I hurt, 'I am sorry'
A chance to live away from gadgets
A chance to appreciate nature
A chance to relive my college days
And......
The list never ends.

Friday Theme

Third Friday of the month and the theme “Depression, is a grey cloud, moving, yet not moving...”

Just like anybody would feel, the topic is way too personal to me. At first, I wanted to let it pass, but then the urge to record it in words was compelling.

I have been through it and I have seen my near and dear ones suffering too. It is not easy to accept that one goes through depression. We, women are at higher danger's of being labeled if our mental condition is out in the open. I have experienced it myself, so why hide the truth.

Being not so good at socializing and with no good friends, it was tough to overcome the condition. But miracle do happen and some force kept me away from further destruction.

But true to the words “Depression, is a grey cloud, moving, yet not moving...”,, it does not go away completely. Memories remain fresh and that could prove fatal unless one learns to override.

I stop here for I am over the moon. Reason being Santa's gift. More next post :)

Tuesday Theme - 3

Todays theme is kind a touchy to me. It depends on how you interpret it for the current times or otherwise.
The theme for third Tuesday of the month :
"They said he died because they wouldn’t accept him for who he was..."

He had just come out of the closet. He had shifted base back to his home town knowing that his near and dear were not in support of him. Deep inside he knew he could win them over. The recent government ruling worsened the situation. He was double minded. One fine day he breathed his last. They said he died because they wouldn't accept him for who he was but none knew that he was in his last stages of life battling against cancer. Working shores away was just an excuse to keep away the double agony from his near and dear ones.

Note: This is an attempt at fiction. Any resemblance to anyone is purely coincidental.

An emotion called Anger

"When I am angry I...."sounds familiar isnt it.. Friday it is and the theme for MarathonBloggers.

One look at it and I think what a cake walk topic but ...
It takes courage to go public about what one does when he/she is angry. People tend to marganalize and label you with your actions. Your actions could be momentary but onlookers would never know. You may have a good soul but that one moment of emotion could tarnish you.

Its not easy just not getting angry, I am a human and anger is part and parcel of life that came in with birth, I believe. A new born baby shows anger by wailing , a toddler through tantrums, a pre schooler may just fuss around everything , and the list goes on. As we grow into adults, somewhere realization hits us and we look for damage control. But that works only if it isnt too late which ever situation it may be.

Being a mother brings in a lot of challenges. When the kid happens to be an over active one its going to be a herculian task and I fall under the second category of mothers.

Being part of an active mothers only group has sure helped me realize the importance of not staying calm when raising kids.

So what do I do?

When I get angry I
  1. Don't enter the kitchen.
  2. Bake cookies or cakes.
  3. Keep the music on high and dance away.
  4. Eat some dark chocolate for I don't stock junk.
  5. Rearrange clothes and furniture.
  6. Have an open talk with the spouse.
  7. Rant about it to friends.
If none works I just cry it out.

The above don't work when with my kiddo

All that I do at those times are Breathe or Move away from the kid.

Off late I have ensured my kid gives me a warning "Amma lets laugh on this and forget the anger". It works depending on the situation.

Following a few blogs have helped me to an extent

http://momdiary.blogspot.in/

http://theorangerhino.com/

And the book "How to talk so kids will listen..." is just amazing and make parenting look easier and trust me its not simple but when practiced brings in a whole new meaning to parenting.

So get going and hit the cool button. :)
